Zuken announces that Windmöller & Hölscher – a prominent global supplier of machinery and systems for flexible packaging – is adopting E3.series, Zuken’s leading electrical and fluid CAD software. E3.series will be implemented as part of a strategic initiative to establish an integrated mechatronic product development solution comprising mechanical, controls design and software engineering.
Windmöller & Hölscher develops, manufactures and supports machinery for printing and processing of flexible packages. The company has a reputation for its forward-thinking business approach and innovation in the global marketplace. The decision to invest into the existing product development environment was made as part of an ongoing effort to further increase engineering efficiency and extend Windmöller & Hölscher’s technological leadership.
“We realized that to continue to serve our global markets with leading-edge products, we needed to take our mechanical, electrical and software engineering processes to the next level,” said Theodor Determann, Managing Director at Windmöller & Hölscher. “By integrating domain-specific development processes into an end-to-end mechatronic engineering environment, we will be able to offer our customers cost-efficient and customized solutions that cut their engineering lead time and overheads,” he added.
The company selected Zuken’s E3.series because of its state-of-the-art, object-oriented architecture that integrates with existing PLM and ERP environments so design changes are directly propagated between mechanical and electrical engineering domains. Change and configuration management will be supported through E3.EDM, E3.series’ native data and process management environment, as well as through a direct integration into Windmöller & Hölscher’s Teamcenter-based PLM environment.
In addition to an optimized and streamlined information data exchange across mechanical and electrical engineering domains, Windmöller & Hölscher is expecting to see significant productivity gains within the controls engineering domain by using E3.series. Other important elements are supporting both 2D and 3D formats, dynamically-linked project files, multi-user functionality and real-time design rule checks.
“We are delighted to support a global leader like Windmöller & Hölscher in their efforts to lead the way in the field of mechatronic product development,” said Gerhard Lipski, General Manager Zuken Europe. “With our global experience and state-of-the-art technology we look forward to a fruitful partnership.”
The solution will be implemented over several phases using Zuken’s certified project management methodology to ensure achievement of the project scope in a planned and controlled approach.
